Our Pastors

Jeff Stonecipher

Lead Pastor

Reverend Jeff Stonecipher received the call to ministry at a youth event when he was a teenager. To fulfill his calling, he left his home town of Syracuse to attend Valley Forge Christian College in Pennsylvania. There his focus was in Pastoral Ministry, and he received a B.S. in Biblical Studies.

Pastor Jeff currently serves as Destiny Christian Center's Lead Pastor. Prior to reaching this stage in his ministry, he served as Destiny's Associate and Discipleship Pastor. He previously served as Youth Pastor at a church in Nedrow.

God has opened doors for Pastor Jeff and allowed him to develop gifts of compassion, humility, prayer, leadership, hospitality, teaching, and preaching. Using these gifts, Pastor Jeff has organized and led Discipleship Classes, Bible studies, and an evangelistic team, and he and his wife, Shelby, helped organize the New York District School of Ministry that once met at Destiny.

Pastor Jeff and Shelby are the parents of three beautiful children, Ashlee, Noah, and Leah, who support them in their entire ministry. Pastor Jeff's favorite activities outside of ministry involve spending time with his family and following Dallas football, Yankee baseball, and Syracuse basketball.

Thomas Tweedle

Youth Pastor

Reverend Thomas Tweedle was born and raised near Baltimore, Maryland. He received the call to youth ministry when he was sixteen years old, and after attending a community college for two years, he attended Valley Forge Christian College in Pennsylvania for three and a half years to receive his degree in Youth Ministry with a minor focus in Pastoral Counseling.

After first visiting Syracuse during the annual Youth Convention held in the spring, Pastor Tom gained a fondness for the city and an appreciation for the way area youth pastors connected and worked together for the good of the ministry. Feeling the call to serve in Syracuse, Pastor Tom accepted a full-time Youth Pastor position at Destiny in June 2008.

Since his arrival, Pastor Tom has ministered to hundreds of teens from around Syracuse, using his gifts of preaching, teaching, and leading to guide and support them. Pastor Tom developed Refuge Youth Ministries, the youth group that meets at Destiny every Friday night, to help teens mature in wisdom, stature, favor with God, and favor with man (Luke 2: 52).

During his time at Destiny, Pastor Tom has served in numerous capacities which may fall under a variation of associate pastor responsibilities, from counseling adults in the congregation to developing ideas for new community outreaches.

Pastor Tom's favorite pastimes involve following NFL football as well as playing volleyball. In October 2009, Pastor Tom was joined in marriage by his sweetheart, Katie, and, although there are no plans to have children of their own in the near future, they often joke that they have 35 children who all attend Refuge Youth Ministries.

Emmanuel Seruhungu

Pastor, African Nation Church

Pastor Emmanuel Seruhungu was born and raised in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). He, his wife, Aimee, and their family came to the United States as refugees from the DRC in order to start a new life away from the unrest in that region.

Pastor Emmanuel attended and received his diploma from an Institution in Uvira, a city in the Sud-Kivu Province of the DRC. He studied there for six years, with concentration in the areas of Theology and Religion.

In addition to preaching during the African Nation Service on Sunday evenings at Destiny, he also preaches during Saturday evening services. He has taken part in evangelism, and frequently makes personal visits and upholds others in prayer. Pastor Emmanuel takes seriously his call to ministry, which he felt led to as a result of being saved. He believes it is his duty, as one with a testimony of the work of Jesus Christ, to preach the good news. He has specifically been given a heart for the needy and a spirit of selflessness to be able to give to those in need.

Pastor Emmanuel and Aimee have a thriving family, with twelve children in all: Nyamariza, Felicien, Muyabe, Mberwa, Ndabaruta, Nyamukunzi, Karedi, Lazard, Mutama, David, Esther, and Joshua. In his down-time, Pastor Emmanuel enjoys watching the news and staying informed about current events.

Matan Magar

Pastor, Syracuse Aaradhana Church

Pastor Matan Singh Rana Magar (or Pastor Martin, for short), was born in Bhutan, a sovereign state located in South Asia. He spent six months training at Youth with a Mission, a Discipleship Training School in Damak Morang, Nepal. His focus was to learn how to preach the Gospel to the lost and bring them into the Kingdom of God, and to learn how to disciple them.

In addition to preaching at the Nepali service at Destiny on Sunday afternoons, he also enjoys making personal visits and uplifting others in prayer. His passion is to share the Word of God and let others know that Jesus is the only Savior, that only he can forgive our sin and give eternal life.

Pastor Martin feels called to the ministry because his heart's cry is to see people saved and living a life devoted to Jesus. He has recognized in himself the God-given gifts of compassion and counseling which help him to carry out the call on his life.

Pastor Martin and his wife, Madhu Maya, are the parents of 5 children: Khadga, Chandra, Dhan Man, Man B., and Suman. Pastor Martin enjoys spending time praying for those who are needy or sick.
